One-minute vacation

Psst!
Take a vacation with me, right now.
You can do it. No one will notice. It will only take a minute.

Think about a vacation. It can be

  • the trip you took recently
  • someplace you’re longing to visit,
  • some adventure you wish you could take,
  • a place you have summered for years or generations.

Let your mind be filled with the qualities of that experience, such as the feel or smell of the air there, the quality of light, the color palette, the simple pleasures. Whether it is sitting on a beach with a good book or traversing alpine wilderness accessible only by days of hiking or soaking in the pleasures of another city, allow the image to affect all of your senses.

Start with your breath — allow yourself to breathe fully and freely. With each of your next four breaths, focus on a different sense letting yourself smell, hear, taste, smell, feel your destination.

Bring your focus and breath back to your current space.

Notice how renewed you feel now.

I’d love to get a postcard – virtual or otherwise – from you about your one- minute vacation.
